Pool Maintenance 101: How to Clean a Pool in 5 Easy Steps
Pool Maintenance
Owning a swimming pool can be a wonderful and relaxing blessing. Pools can enhance the look and feel of your home, and swimming has long been recognized for its health benefits.
However, pool maintenance can sometimes be a little tricky, especially for those who are first-time owners. Here are 5 simple steps to help you clean your pool.
1. Prepare your things
It is important that all your cleaning materials are complete. When you start cleaning your pool, it is best that you complete the process from start to finish to ensure a job well done.
2. Brush the walls
You don’t have to do this every day, but it is advisable that you brush the floor and walls of your pool at least once a week. Pay special attention to any areas with visible algae or stains, and push accumulated dirt and debris toward floor filters.
3. Skim leaves and debris
Use a leaf net to remove debris and leaves from the water. You must also pay attention to insects and other unwanted items floating on the surface. Always remove toys from the pool before proceeding with the cleaning process.
4. Chlorinate and correct pH level of water
To kill the bacteria that might be lurking in your pool, you should supply adequate amounts of chlorine. Do not forget to check the pH level of the water and adjust with the proper additives as well.
5. Clean your filter
Make sure your filtration system is functioning effectively. Clean your particular filter appropriately according to manufacturer’s instructions on the recommended schedule or as needed.
