What Are Shotcrete and Wetcrete?

Shotcrete and Wetcrete are forms of concrete where the sand, cement, and water are pre-mixed at a local batching plant before being applied via a hose at the job site. Because the water is added early in the process, the mixture begins setting and drying immediately. To prevent hardening during transportation and application, additional water is added multiple times. This results in a mixture with over 33% water content, which compromises its strength and makes it more brittle.
